Because 11 million people play World of Warcraft there is a huge amount of tips and tricks on how to complete certain quests or level up particular character types. Unfortunately, there is not much information made available for new players. This is a short article for those who are new to world of warcraft and need to know the basics.

Within the game you have the option of reading some helpful guidelines. If you need to access the help menu just click on the flashing exclamation mark that you will see at the very bottom of the game screen.

To move your character all you have to do is use the arrow keys. You can also use the more familiar method employed by many Pc games and use the W, A, S and D keys to move.

Warcraft acts the same way as other computer programs in that you can identify buttons and icons by just hovering your mouse over it. A pop box with an explanation of that widget will come up on screen.

In times of game play when you come in contact with other players, computer generated personalities, monsters or items your mouse pointer will change and indicate that you can interact with them.

Left click on anything with WoW to select it and interact with things by right clicking.

As WoW is an online game you will need an internet connection and a WoW online account. After this you choose which server to play on. There are 4 different realms and each one suits different types of game play. Choose the normal server if you are playing for the first time so you can get used to the game.

When you begin you will have to choose whether you want to belong to the alliance or the horde. After this you get to create your own personal character and can choose from 10 races and different classes. This means you could be a elf, the undead and train as a mage with magical powers or be a warrior and dominate the battlefield.

Make sure you follow the guidelines set out for naming your character.

At the start you will probably die a lot. This is not disastrous because you get to come back. When you die you will find yourself in a cemetery where you are a ghost. To re-enter the game properly just go, as a ghost, to your body and your body will be revived.

If you run into trouble just click on the 'Help Request' button to speak to a Game Master and they will help you with any problems you may have.
