=> Bowel incontinence can also come about due to nerve damage to the anal sphincter muscle.

All of these things can cause weakness and loss of control to the bowel. There are a few things you can do to help lower bowel incontinence including a change of diet, avoid food and beverages that contain caffeine and chocolate as these foods tend to relax the anal sphincter muscle. Try taking vitamin supplements which help to lower the risk of diarrhea. Consuming smaller meals more often throughout the day can help as well as taking the time for regular bowel movements. Pelvic floor exercises can also be a great help. Seek out your doctor's advice as you may need surgery to correct the problem.

It can be embarrassing, often leading to the withdrawal from every day activities.
