Learning games are fun and games are a fun way of learning. Games become instruments to teach children new concepts, facts and knowledge about different fields and subjects such as Math, Science, History and Geography. it is an application of learned knowledge and skills and also a venue for them to develop their mental ability, to solve problems and think carefully. Games also teach and instill values and virtues.

Such games are called educational games; that is because they educate. It is true that subjects can be boring sometimes , not because the topic itself is boring but the teaching technique used does not get the attention of children. Educational games necessarily make subjects more interesting. In Mathematics, flash cards are being used. Here, two kids compete to answer the equation first and as fast as they could. Competition compels children to do better the next time by learning their lessons Tangrams and chess are also very good games for children to practice problem solving skills.

In English, games such as Scrabbles, Word factory, and online ones such as Text Twist and Bookworm, enhances children's vocabulary. They begin to search for more words , find out their meanings and their sentence usage, further improving grammatical skills.

In Geography and History, which do not interest most of the children at all, memory games can be played. pictures of national flags can be shown and let kids identify which country is it. Further, they can associate a culture or race through pictures of people's dresses and physical adornments. Locating countries in blank maps and identifying famous pictures of landmarks and statues can also be done. With these educational games, they learn more of a country's wealth and culture, as well as lessening the possibility of them having prejudices and discriminating other people .

In Science, experiments are effective ways of understanding complex theories. Did you know that Helium gas can distort a person's voice resembling that of the chipmunks? Let kids take in the gas Helium through their mouths from a balloon and let them say a line in the most natural way they could and they'll see. You can search for more educational games relating to science that children can play with. Many websites features these kinds of games that promote interest and a better understanding in the subject.

Lastly, kids love to solve problems. Optical illusion brings that amazement and critical thinking come to life. Present pictures that create an illusion and ask them what they see and tell them what they could not see. Get them, also to crack their minds with several brain teasers. Educational games develop abilities and skills of children. So let them be the best of themselves.
