Games That Improve Memory - By: Peter Walk

These days, the internet puts games right at your finger tips. Sites like Pogo and MSN Games provide an array of games that can help you improve your memory in a fun and relaxing manner. You can play puzzle games, word games, war games and another game you could imagine. As we all know, this generation is obsessed with video games. But little do they know all that game playing is actually helping them improve their memory.

Games where you have to remember things and then match them later provide the perfect stimulation for your brain. We actually probably all played these types of games as a kid. Remember matching pairs? This is the game where you have several cards laying face down and you have to flip one over and remember where it is the next time around. As each person goes, you try to remember what they have flipped over so you can get the most matching pairs.

Now back in the day we would play it on the floor or on the kitchen table. But these days you can play the game all by yourself on the internet. Doing puzzles are also a great way to rev up your brain engine and improve your memory. A puzzle requires you to put a lot of different pieces together to come up with one big masterpiece. This takes a lot of memory and organization as you try to remember what piece goes where without having to constantly look at the picture.

Truthfully, just about any game you play can help improve your memory. In every game, there are certain things that you must remember if you want to excel and make it to the next level. Most of the time we don't realize just how much information we are consuming and holding onto when we are playing games. That's why games are the perfect solution to improving memory.

You are doing something that is fun and something that you enjoy. My personal favorite games are bejeweled, word whomp, scrabble, pool and checkers. All of these games stimulate my brain in one way or another and I have fun playing them. Of course, we are all different so what stimulates my brain might not necessarily stimulate your brain. So look around on the various game sites and find a game or two that you will enjoy playing. Play these games at least once or twice a week and you will see your memory start to improve.
