GAD Treatment - Hypnosis For Generalized Anxiety Disorder - By: Peter James Field

Everyone can feel anxious from time to time. It's just part of the process of being alive. Usually, though, our anxious feelings simply manage to fade and we are able to get on with our life.

When it comes to chronic anxiety, however, things are considerably different. Unlike other forms of anxiety disorder such as panic attacks and social anxiety, which often make themselves known when the person is already an adult, this kind of anxiety may well have been in the person's life for longer than he or she can remember.

This form of anxiety is known as Generalized Anxiety Disorder, or GAD.

People with GAD usually find themselves worrying to an irrational level and degree. Such anxiety can really disrupt a person's life, with one worry replacing another and anticipated disaster lurking just around the bend.

Very often GAD is accompanied by a whole range of physical difficulties. These can include tiredness, difficulty in concentrating, headaches, muscular tension, nausea, irritability and insomnia.

GAD can affect anyone, though research has shown that it appears to be more common in women than in men. It's estimated that about 5% of people suffer from Generalized Anxiety Disorder, GAD.

Since many people with Generalized Anxiety Disorder cannot recall a time when they were without it, some experts think that it may best be thought of as a personality disorder.

Drug treatment has produced very limited results in treating GAD, and for this reason there is a need for a different approach. CBT or cognitive behavioural therapy has produced a lessening of symptoms in some people, yet there is an alternative treatment that focuses not only on the symptoms, but also on the cause and drivers of those symptoms. And this treatment is transformational hypnotherapy.

Hypnotherapy in the treatment of GAD can work in several different ways and on a variety of levels. Perhaps the most basic level is that hypnotherapy can help a person to deeply relax and to release the stresses and tensions that have accumulated as a result of the GAD.

Additionally, in hypnosis we can anchor calmness responses and teach strategies to help the person cope better with the anxiety itself. This is a far more natural and effective manner of dealing with GAD than taking drugs. Good self hypnosis recordings specifically designed to deal with anxiety are very effective for many people struggling with GAD and can help bring real relief.

For in depth therapy, however, working one-to-one with a fully trained and experienced transformational hypnotherapist is hard to beat, since this can uncover the unique causes and drivers of the GAD. Having uncovered the program that has caused and maintained the anxiety, it can be neutralized.

If you or someone you know suffers from GAD or Generalised Anxiety Disorder, do not despair. With the right kind of hypnotherapy you really can take back control and enjoy a more relaxed and calmer life once more.
