MLM FRUSTRATION Fact and Fiction

If I Do Sales Then I will:

1. Have to be a public speaker - Marketing and Sales requires public speaking a lot and the majority of people would rather die than do public speaking. Standing in front of large audiences is not a requirement to become triumphant in any MLM.

2. Become a aggressive, self serving individual - Most people accept as true that the act of Sales means manipulating or force another to get something they don't want, can't afford and will never use - peppered with tons of force to accept the deal. Experienced marketers would not use pushy selling or convincing - they sort.

3. Lose my friends and my family if I do an MLM. - A commonly held belief is that to do an MLMmeans that it would be the "norm" to bug ones friends and family to join their MLM business and in so doing ultimately lose their family and friends love and respect. When you act with integrity this is a non-issue.

With these prevailing myths it is it would be natural to expect most people's knee jerk reaction is to say no to an invitation to become an MLM representative.

Frequently, folks involved in marketing often get unjustly typecast. The truth is that recommendation marketing is one of the oldestmethodsof marketing that exists. Marketing is a very needed and dignified profession. We would not have food to eat, clothes to wear, or even a car to get to work in if we had no one sell us our products and services. We think nothing of recommending a great restaurant or an excellent holiday "get-a-way" to a friend. If you had the the solutionfor cancer you would gladly share it. Many people in the trades have experienced the "good friend" that expects him or her to repair his electrical, fix his car or sell his house at cost or even less as a result of the friendship they share. Friends helping friends is the primary principle that is being played out.

People often fear that if they gave a personal endorsement and profited from it in some way, they would be endangeringtheir credibility. The new MLMer may undergo a "value based" problem, if they begin to question their own motive. Is the counsel to use the product or service because they have faith in the product or service or is it because they wanted to make money at the expense of their friend or family member? They may perhaps be bothered if they will lose their credibility should the product or service did not function as expected. As silly as these fears are, they are widespread. In our the social order it's acceptable and reasonable to make a recommendation to purchase a given item, provided the person making the recommendation is not a friend of the client. So often I hear people say that they are willing to take a crack at marketing as long as they don't have to bother their friends and family.

Picture that you went to a particular restaurant at the good word of a friend and ordered a steak. You asked that it be prepared a special way and yet regardless of your instructions, the steak was not cooked as you had asked. Would you hold your friend accountable or reject to ever eating steak again? Obviously not! You would likely request the steak to be sent back to be prepared properly, or you would ask ask for the cost of the steak to be remove from the billand leave. Your friend referred you to the restaurant because he believed it was an excellent place to go eat. Obviously your friend thought highly of the restaurant's food, so it is possible the regular cook was off that day.

Many people are reluctant to call a person they know to learn about their business because they are afraid that the person might fail in their business and they would somehow feel accountable. However, just because someone could find any one to join in your MLM business does not mean you are in any way at fault. Consider our schooling system, not everyone that goes to high school finishes. The majority of all medical students fail to become Doctors yet as a society we hold high regard our medical schools. Every new business that starts up in North America 95% will fail within 5 years with only 5% lasting longer than 5 years. If you believe you have a venture that can offer financial hopeyour role is to share it with people and it only makes sense that you share it with people you care about. If a new MLMer is only ready to approach strangers then their reluctance of belief in what they have to offer will be obvious and their failure is guaranteed.

An idividual's success in business is the responsibility of the person that took on the goal to live the American dream. Folks that recommend a product or service whether they are paid for their recommendation or not, are not responsible for the outcome when their intent was honest. MLM is simply marketing using a referral method thru a social net. The intent is always to identify a need and then provide a probable solution. It's an ethical method to market products and services and is used by the most profitable mainstream businesses in North America today. Educating people in this truth is a necessary part of growing your MLM business. As for public speaking, if you can impart a great idea with one or two people, in a brief period of time you will find your business will catch the attention of the "public speakers" and also your panic about of being in front of a group will cease to exist as your confidence grows. the definition of Fear is F alse E vidence A pperaing R eal
