As a writer, people frequently ask me if I actually earn a living through writing. The truth of the matter is that I do. In fact, my husband recently left his job, so at this point, my writing is the sole thing keeping us in food, diapers and internet! You can earn a living through freelance writing, but it’s not instant.

It took me a few years to build my income up to this level. Many people stop writing earlier on when they don’t see immediate success. However, like anything, freelance writing is worth putting some time into and being patient. In fact, you need to invest quite a bit of time if you want to have success.

Writing is something that is always in demand. If you’re good, you can easily pull in $15-30 per article. If you write an article an hour, that’s not a bad wage! The trick here is to be able to write quickly and accurately, with some passion mixed in. Yes, there are writing jobs that pay much more and there are a lot that pay much less. You’ll have to find your own rates.

The other big benefit of freelance writing is the flexibility. You can write at 3 am if you like. No one cares when you get the work done, so long as you meet your deadlines. This flexibility is what makes writing an excellent career for parents. They can watch the kids and still manage to work.

By taking a freelance writing course, you can actually pick up on a lot of information that would take you a long time to figure out on your own. Things that took me years to learn could easily have been instant knowledge if I’d only had a mentor. If you’re serious about going into freelance writing, then you can really speed things up by getting a helping hand from someone who has already been there.

Freelance writing courses are very useful for anyone who can already write but isn’t certain how to make the leap from hobby to career. If you’re interested in earning money with your writing, then there are plenty of people out there who are looking for writers, you just need to know how to connect with them.

You can earn a living with freelance writing. It won’t happen overnight, but with steady work and by providing excellent quality for your clients, you’ll get there.
