It is human nature for us all to enjoy getting something for nothing, no matter how big or small. Lots of companies use promotional gifts to promote their new line of products. Sometimes this is done in the way of giving out small samples of the products that they are going to be selling as the customer can see what it is like before purchasing it themselves It also gives the impression that the retailer has nothing to hide.

It is a well known company strategy; for example perfume retailers give out small vials of their new scent as promotional items when a different perfume or aftershave is purchased. The idea behind this is that you get to try before you buy, if people like what you are wearing then they will ask “what perfume are you wearing?” you will of course tell them thus building up a new product by word of mouth.

Many companies believe that if they get their product out there then people will begin to talk about it and the most powerful tool in advertising, word of mouth will soon spread the word. This is very true; however, it can be very costly to your company to do as you are simply giving away your product. Your company must be well established before something like this is attempted.
