Five Easy Ways to Care for your Skin - By: Jamie Hanson

It is essential to take proper care of your skin regardless of your age. You can surely get a younger looking skin provided you follow these few simple ips.

With the current hectic life-style, a lot of people do not have the time to stick to a normal, rigorous skincare regimen but these ideas can make your skin look better and maintain younger looking skin for longer!

Tip #1 Avoid too much exposure to the sun.

Nothing will damage your skin faster than the UV rays from the sun. Aside from the risk of skin cancers it can cause premature ageing, lines and wrinkles before your time, freckles, dry skin and brown spots. To avoid this damage you should always wear a hat as much as you can when out in full sun for any length of time and it's best to try to avoid the sun when it's at its hottest during the middle of the day when the sun's rays are at their most intense. Wear sensible clothing that protects your skin as well as keeps you from overheating. And always use sunscreen! A generous application of sunscreen thirty minutes before sun exposure will go a long way to avoiding the premature aging of your skin. Remember to re-apply every two hours, more often if you've been swimming or have sweated profusely.

Tip #2 Give up smoking!

Everybody knows that smoking is not healthy for our health, but most people don't realise that it even causes harm and early aging to our skin. Since the oxygenated blood flow is reduced to your skin, smoking prevents the skin from getting oxygen and Vitamin A , both of which are important to the maintenance of healthy, young looking skin. Additionally elastin and collagen the fibres which keep your skin strong and elastic could be ruined by smoking. If you are a regular smoker, there is only one way to prevent further damage and that is to quit the habit. There are lots of services readily available that assist people to quit, including treatments and nicotine tablets available from your medical practitioner. In the long run your entire body will benefit from this small change in lifestyle.

Tip #3 Be kind to your skin

Your skin can suffer small amounts of damage everyday, which in the long run have a large influence on your appearance. The habit of taking very hot showers daily can strip the skin of its natural oils. Have faster showers at a lower temperature, and apply gentle moisturising cleansers rather than strong soaps. Another habit that causes tremendous damage to skin is shaving. Only use a lubricating shaving foam and gel with a sharpened razor to lower the damage. Using a good aftershave moisturiser will assist in soothing the skin and replacing essential oils.

Tip #4 A healthy diet plan

Although science has not verified a direct link among acne and the food we eat, implementing a better diet will definitely enhance the way our skin appears, and how we feel. You can help your skin from ageing and damaging by consuming lots of anti-oxidant rich fruits and vegetables regularly.

Tip #5 Relax!

Increasingly the medical community is realising that stress has many negative impacts on our bodies. It may result in skin breakouts of acne but over a long time, just like sun damage, it acts to breakdown our skin's normal suppleness leading to lines and wrinkles and various other signs of ageing. Relaxed is healthy and this applies to our skin as well! Try deep breathing or relaxation workouts, or just taking the time out to do some moderate exercise will all lower your stress levels immediately.
