Five Benefits For Attempting Home Brew - By: Dirik Hameed

Home brewing is fun, let me tell you. Who will admit they didn't try home brewing as a naughty teenager!? Personally, I don't think you have lived if you haven't had a dodgy home brew explode. It is a blessing now though, that we have access to the best home brewing equipment available. An added benefit is modern home brewing equipment is much safer too. Breweries have adapted to the recent recession, allowing home brewers to produce their ales from home. Modern home brew kits are both safe and hygenic as well as user friendly. There are a great many forums and websites to give you a helping hand.

Home brewing is also very cheap. The last home brew kit I purchased worked out to just 20 pence a pint! If you are short of cash and like a drink, definitely consider home brewing. For example my friends, will spend over 50 pounds on alcohol in one evening! While I cannot see that home brewing is for them, it does work for me. Roughly speaking, around 8 bottles of wine in a month would cost you 40 pounds. If you saved half by home brewing you save 20 pounds a month. While this isn't a fortune, the pennies add up over the course of a year.

Choosing what tastes you get has to be the best thing. With the more advanced kits and ingredients you can totally design your own drink. If you ever wondered what adding chocolate to a beer would do, you can probably try it. If you are a creative person you will really enjoy thinking up your own recipes. Amaze your friends with your own unique home brew.

Impressing your friends is another big advantage. Imagine, lads, you have a girl over and you ask her what she wants to drink. Normally, you'd pull out the wine from the fridge. Better that by offering her a home brew! She's going to be much more impressed! You can also impress friends and family by offering them your own brew. Although, remember to keep your eye on the alcoholic strength if it is for your Nan!

A final advantage of home brewing, is you can keep massive, massive quantities. I have had gallons stored under my stairs- enough to hold a week of parties! The average batch will let you brew around 15-30 pints. If you therefore had two or three on the go, you'd have enough for months on end. Imagine, you'd never have to visit the off license or pub again.
