First Hands On The Oxygen Audio O-Car. - By: Sherman James

My partner and i was lucky enough to see Oxygen Audio's brand brand-new concept, your O-Car, earlier this month at the M. Orite. N. Expo 2011. Precisely what I thought of possibly 2011's product of the year.

To say I was looking towards getting my hands with an O-Car was an understatement, I had actually contacted Oxygen directly months ago in the hope of securing a demo model. On first impressions the device looks quite basic and unappealing unless guess what happens this product is all about. Once you dock your iPhone in the surprisingly sturdy docking system the whole things bursts into lifetime.

This dock itself is nothing short of impressive. It comes with a special protective case to your iPhone which also assists you to locate it when placing you phone in the dock. The dock comes out from the unit around 2 inches and will allow you to swivel the iPhone within a 360 x 180 arc meaning which you could eliminate any glare or ensure you can always see where by your sat nav is usually taking you. If you undertake to, the dock will go flat to the stereo allowing the apple iphone to sit horizontally relating to the front of the product creating the illusion that iPhone is actually part of the stereo itself.

The O-Car's greatest strength emanates from its lack of features and controls. This may sound like I get lost my marbles but let me explain. Unlike conventional stereos where an iPhone connects via cable and you can select songs to play while using stereos controls, the O-Car doesn't need any controls. The only thing you can do is usually turn the volume vertical. Your O-Cars features and controls are purely as a result of what apps you have installed on your iPhone. For those who have the TomTom or similar app then you will have a fully built in Satnav, if you have a Pandora app then you have Internet Radio built in your car. Changing the features is really as simple as visiting the Apple store and picking up the latest apps. Much needed oxygen Audio have even released their own apps to help you to control the basic broadcast and equalizer functions.

Much needed oxygen have meant business with this particular product and are set to defend myself against the big boys in car audio such as Sony with there TuneTray DSX selection. Most of the components are high quality and also the built in 52x4w amp looks nice and crisp. Sadly the demo unit I had chance to use did have no sub woofers or tweeters hooked up so it would be unfair of me to rate the true quality of the music out of this stereo yet. I am doing a full test in the next fortnight when we receive our first shipment. In my eyes the?? 250 price tag that's placed on these units is extremely reasonable. When you consider the competition in this price bracket, the Oxygen O-Car is a league of its own.

My expectations for any Oxygen O-Car were very high with hype and media frenzy containing built up over the last 6 months. Relating to the first impression, I can see that it has been worth the wait. Despite only while using the stereo for a short time it has given myself a glimpse of what is possible and I want more. This will be the biggest car activities product of 2011 and rightly so. I will be testing the unit above the next few months which has a full review to come soon after.
