It only takes the simple application of power smart rules around your home, office or summer camp or cottage to forestall disaster. EXTENSION CORD SAFETY - Purchase cords from reputable stores. - Use extension cords correctly where it is rated. - Never try to extend the length of your extension cord by connecting it with another extension cord. - Always consider the length of the cord that you will use when buying one. - Routinely check extension cord before use. - Damaged cords should be replaced urgently.

- Do not run extension cords under furniture or carpeting. - Extension cords should not be used as a permanent electrical circuit. - Never ever overload electric circuit. Plug only a single appliance for one receptacle outlet.

- If outlets and switches are warm, have an electrician check it. - Never touch broken cords.

You can bet that your children, almost with feline curiosity will dram up and imagine any way possible to "stick it in". All too often, no matter how much we hope we could, we just couldn't have our eyes fixed on them 24/7.The most common injury that children encounter is shock or electrocution which is indeed serious and fatal. We can avoid this by keeping out of their reach wires and plugs. This way they won't be able to plug appliances .Ensure also that outlets and receptacles have safe covers for their protection.
