File Recovery after File Vanishes due to Failed Save Operation - By: Tom Patrick

It is always recommended to not save your file, or even changes made to a file, on a disk that has very low or little disk space. Generally, a user is prompted by the system to perform a cleanup operation in such a situation. But imagine, you try to save changes made to a document, and receive an error. Followed by this, you close the application and suddenly, you find that the file in question has been deleted from the disk. Now what? All the data that was saved in that file has been lost! Whats worse, it didn't even have a backup. So what to do? Is there any way to get back that file, and all the data saved therein? How to perform file recovery in the absence of a backup?

Let us first understand what causes such a situation to happen, what error message you get and then learn of the ways to combat such a problem!

Consider while working on Microsoft Word 2000 document, when you make certain changes, suddenly you find that the system refuses to carry on with the save operation, while giving you the following error message:

“Word cannot complete the save due to a file permission error.”

This forces you to close the file without saving any changes made. And you draw respite from the fact that you will be able to make changes by opening the file again, and that it is just a few things that need to be added again. But when you open the folder in which you had saved that file, you find that the file is not there. It has vanished without a trace. There is no sign of it in the recycle bin as well. It can make any person panic. Searching for the file using the search feature draws no result, and you have little option but to opt for file recovery.

• You need to install the latest service pack of Office 2000 to get rid of the problem.

• However, if that doesn't work for you, you can install a file recovery software to effectively undelete all your files. These are third-party software that apply complex algorithms to recover all the deleted files, that have not been overwritten by the computer system.

Stellar Phoenix Windows Data Recovery, an advanced software that performs high-end scanning algorithms to recover all kinds of files including word documents, spreadsheets, databases, presentations, PDF files, NTFS Partition Recovery and much more.
