Features of an Outdoor Chaise Lounge - By: Allan Michael Taylor

Those who would like to fully utilize the patio should understandably invest on varied kinds of patio furniture. Sometimes, homeowners would base it in the existing décor indoors. However, as long as it does not stray too far from the main theme, the patio can still have its own decorating theme. Homeowners can choose between having an outdoor living area or an outdoor dining area. For the dining space, the pieces may include dining chairs and dining tables. If it is not intended for entertaining guests with full meals, a coffeetable, lounge chairs and side tables would do quite well. There are also people who would simply like to add more appropriate seating options for the poolside. In that case, a chaise lounge may be perfect.

To put it simply, it is an elongated lounge chair. The fact that people can put their legs up makes it the piece very indulgent. An outdoor sofa can never replace a chaise lounge. Even if it is a 3-seater sofa, most are still too cramped for people to comfortably lie down. At the same time, sofas do not provide the same support for a person's back while they are napping. An outdoor elongated lounge is also more practical in the sense that sofas tend to block out wind. This means that people who are napping would still be able to enjoy the breeze.

Those qualities made these designs common for poolside use. Beyond the poolside, chaise lounges also add aesthetic appeal especially to those wide and blank spaces. Because of its wonderful form, it already adds a lot to the cozy feel of the outdoor living space. The designs are limitless that it would not be too hard to choose one that would fit in the decorating theme homeowners have in mind.

There is no need to be concerned about the materials used for the chaise lounge if the dedicated space has enough shade. However, if the pieces of the furniture would probably be exposed to extreme weather conditions such as sun and rain, then it would be better to invest on pieces that are weatherproof. For instance, some kinds of woods tend to grow mold easily if it is constantly exposed to the rain. This also goes for the accents used for the seats. Both pillows and cushions should also be waterproof. Some kinds of textiles would not easily fade even when exposed to the sun for long a long time.

A modern twist to the designs of a chaise lounge is having a built-in storage space. Those kinds are also recommended for the patio. This is because storage space would always be needed especially by those who wish to entertain guests regularly. The space can be dedicated to storing pillows and cushions. It can also be for magazines coffeetable books and other reading materials to keep guests entertained. For particularly cold evenings, the relaxing chaise lounge with storage can also contain blankets.
