Fashion Shops in Kent - By: Claud Tollerud

If the quality of its myriad fashion boutiques is anything to go by, Kent must be one of the most stylish areas in the country. (As we know it is!) In the major towns, such as Tunbridge Wells, Sevenoaks, Bromley, Ashford, Maidstone, Orpington, Dartford, Canterbury, Chatham, Gillingham, Rochester, Sittingbourne, Tonbridge and more. shoppers are really spoilt for choice and even in smaller towns and villages you can find classy boutiques offering enough variety to satisfy the most discerning fashionista.

Why so many and such quality? After all, these towns are close enough to the capital to make quick shopping trips to London’s West End an easy option. But if the shopper is offered plenty of selection locally plus brilliant service, why wouldn’t they prefer to stay on home ground?

Most of these local boutiques have a website, an extra advantage for the shopper who sees something gorgeous on the site but wants to pop down to the local shop to try it on. Or the one who fancies something in the shop but wants to show it to husband and friends and take time to decide before clicking to buy. Fashion websites can be a real asset to high street shops, not a rival, working as partners to help shoppers make the right decision.

In many ways, local boutiques score because they try harder than the big stores. They get to know their customers, what kind of things they’re looking for, how much they want to spend, what sort of lifestyle they have. They keep in touch with their regular customers, either online or on the telephone, telling them when new lines are expected, when there are special offers and often holding local fashion shows and shopping evenings.

Boutique owners also try hard to offer something exclusive. It’s very boring to walk down the High Street and see the same clothes in every shop. So you will find that each shop has its own personality and gets known for its specialist labels and the owner will try to offer a different take on current fashion. Which also means that every shop’s website has its own look, attracting a great deal of loyal followers to log on regularly.

Many of the local fashion boutiques in kent (and their websites) offer one-stop shopping. Buy the dress and find the boots, the tights and the earrings which complete the look. And of course local boutique owners are known both for their fashion flair and the clever way they can point customers in the right direction, encouraging them to try something new and put a different look together.

If you live in Kent, the message seems to be: shop local and shop online. This might seem to be contradictory until you start to think how boutiques and their websites can work closely together and complement each other. Happy hunting!
