Monica

Rhythm and Blues singer Monique tied the knot in 2011 with NBA basketball player Shannon Brown. It was, perhaps, the event that inspired her latest album, ‘New Life’ – set to be released in 2012. Monique’s dress was certainly an elaborate affair, boasting over a million dollars worth of Joel Rosenberg jewels. The pricey gown was created by Stephane Rolland, and featured a 12-foot long, 50-pound train. As dresses go, this one was 2011’s wedding heavyweights in more ways than one!

Lily Allen

Singer Lily Allen walked blissfully down the aisle of St James the Great Church in Gloucestershire in a wedding gown designed by French stylist Delphine Manivet. It evoked the classical look of vintage 1920’s couture wedding dresses, with lace created in Calais and an accompanying veil accented with fabric flower embellishments. Although many of the fans who’d gathered to wish her well didn’t catch a glimpse of the bride, she’d added a personal touch to her ensemble - a tiny puppet version of the bride and groom playing cricket to represent her love of the sport.

Shannon Tweed

Shannon Tweed exchanged her vows in an exquisite ivory dress from Priscilla of Boston, and it really turned up the volume during her nuptials to Kiss bass player Gene Simmons. There was plenty of bling on show at the wedding: Shannon’s wedding band was designed by Goel Talasazan and inscribed with the romantic phrase, ‘you are my first love, and you will be my last love’. As an accompaniment to her 27-carat diamond engagement ring, it was a perfect complement to her breath-taking wedding dress.

Kim Kardashian

Although the marriage may have only lasted for 72 days, you can’t fault reality TV star Kim Kardashian for her wedding style. With the best choice of couture wedding dresses by Vera Wang, Giuseppe Zanotti shoes, and more than 10 million dollars worth of Lorraine Schwartz jewellery (including a headpiece resplendent with diamonds), it was a wedding look that proved unforgettable.

Reese Witherspoon

An honourable mention must go to Reese Witherspoon, who bucked the trend of white couture wedding dresses and set her own style with a blush dress from Monique Lhuillier. The gorgeous gown included a beautiful tulle skirt, and silk satin ribbons around her waist for that extra touch of elegance.
