The beautiful county of Devon in South West England is lucky enough to possess two coasts, the North with its dramatic coastline and long-stretching beaches and the South with its hidden coves and picturesque harbour towns.
North Devon is one of the most sort after holiday destinations and is particularly popular with families of all ages. There are a wide range of family hotels in Devon, attractions, activities and large, sandy safe beaches which provide the perfect place for a family day out, exploring rock pools, building sand castles and enjoying a family picnics.

Accommodation is easy enough to find throughout the county. There are many family friendly hotels in Devon, but if you are looking to come and go as you please then there are many self catering options available such as coastal and countryside cottages, campsites and even luxury lodges.

North Devon Beaches

Croyde Beach:
Croyde Beach in Braunton is a world famous sandy beach. There is plenty of space to choose where you’re going to place those towels or windbreaks as the beach is huge. It is backed with huge sand dunes which are a great place for children to explore. The beach is also popular with surfers and holds annual world surf contests.

Woolacombe Beach:
Woolacombe Beach is one of the finest beaches in the Westcountry and has won a number of awards. It lies in between Baggy and Morte Points and is a staggering three miles long attracting both families and adults alike. There are a number of facilities – it has a shop, toilets, deckchair hire, water sports and safe swimming areas. Woolacombe Bay is also a fabulous place for accommodation. There is one of the most superbly located hotels in Devon, situated right on the coast overlooking Woolacombe Bay.

Mortehoe Beach (Rockham):
Rockham is one of the quieter beaches on the North coast which is great if you want to escape the bustling crowds in the summer months. It is a beautiful beach and well worth the visit, however, it is slightly difficult to access as you have to walk approximately 2Km down to the shore.

North Devon Attractions

There is much to see and do in North Devon, come rain or shine. Many of the attractions are actually undercover so if the sun creeps in (as it as a habit of doing!) then there are many attractions which are undercover.

Exmoor Zoological Park:
Exmoor is a unique and unusual zoo to visit. Located in the heart of the Exmoor countryside it has grown significantly over the years and now has a number of exhibits such as cheetah, blackbuck, maned wolves and the Exmoor beast.

Milky Way Adventure Park:
The Milky Way Adventure Park is North Devon’s largest all weather family attraction, with five major rides and lives shows held throughout the day. There is also an indoor adventure play area with a death slide, rope bridges and assault course.

The Big Sheep:
The Big Sheep is an award-winning attraction for all the family. There are shows throughout the whole of the day, including famous sheep racing, the ‘one man and his dog’ miniature sheep dog trials. The Ewetopia Indoor Adventure Zone is widely is widely recognised as one of the top indoor playgrounds for all ages in the country.
