It’s one of the great debates gripping the nation every Christmas - fake tree or real one? Do you go for that authentic look but put up with needles falling and the prospect of having to lug a deceased trunk and branches out of the house in January?

One consideration that many people miss when trying to decide on the best tree to buy is how it will look as a backdrop to Christmas Tree Decorations. Obviously a fake tree with bright blue and silver branches for instance is in danger of overpowering the Christmas Baubles that are hung on it whereas the traditional dark green needles, with their natural matt look will offer a much better way to show off the sparkle and glamour of the Christmas Tree Decorations.

Choosing a fake tree that looks reasonably realistic and could be mistaken perhaps offers the best of both worlds – you can still have an understated backdrops for your Christmas Tree Decorations, whether they’re understated and in neutral tones or brightly coloured and sparkling – and yet you won’t have to deal with dead branches and falling needles all over the carpet.

On the other hand, House Beautiful magazine recommends making a virtue of the fact that your tree is artificial by having it in cream or white and transforming your home into a winter wonderland. Finding really bright, striking Christmas Baubles that will match this look is not difficult and will certainly jazz up a room ready for the festive season.

In recent years, fake Christmas tree have become even more unashamedly fake. As well as silver, you’ll find them in black, for instance, and some such as a style sold by the John Lewis chain are even upside down. Bizarre it might sound but it makes choosing Christmas Tree Decorations to match even more fun.
