With the explosion in social media it comes as no surprise to learn that out of 600 million Facebook users about 60 million are Farmville players. This game has taken on a life of it's own. Zynga the makers of Farmville have recently announced the launch of Farmville for the iPad. This is the company's first app for this platform. The new application is a follow on from the Farmville launch on the iPhone. Now Farmville players can care for their crops and animals not only on the web, but the iPad and the iPhone. This will also attract a flood of new players who can aquire the Farmville application free from the iTunes App Store.

“We want to reach people wherever they want to play the games they love, and deliver the most fun and social experience on every platform,” said Steven Chiang, president of studios, Zynga. “The iPad is a spectacular gaming device, and the new FarmVille app leverages its larger touch screen interface and enhanced graphics. FarmVille on the iPhone was an instant hit and now we are giving people another Apple device to play on.”

FarmVille on iPad features it's own graphics created specifically for the larger iPad. This is similar to FarmVille on iPhone, now the iPad app can take advantage of the touch screen interface, allowing players to interact with their farms in a new way. By swiping a finger or double-tapping to zoom in and out, players can view their farms, harvest crops or drive tractors. iPad users will be alerted to the status of their crops and farm through push notifications.
