Listening to music when on the go (running, driving, mowing the lawn) is something that is very important to me. If you’re like me, you can’t stand commercial radio. I need my own music, otherwise my day seems bland and boring.

Enter the iPod. Thank God for Steve Jobs and his infinite wisdom. And now with the emergence of smartphones such as the iPhone, there are so many ways to enjoy portable music. The only problem is that I don’t have any convenient way to hook up my iPod to my car stereo. I’ve spent quite a bit of money on all of my music, so at this point I need to find a cheap but effective way to fix my problem. The product that I ended up going with was an FM modulator.

My brother and some of my friends have purchased wired FM modulators in the past, but I didn’t think this was the best option for me. I wasn’t too crazy about ripping apart my dash to install a modulator, especially considering that my car could break down any day. If I have to sell my car or trade it in, then I would have to go through the hassle of uninstalling the product. I figured going with a wireless model would be the best option.

Upon doing some initial research on the Internet, I found a large number of options available to me. I was looking for one that could broadcast on any FM frequency, be compatible with any mp3 player and one that would give me the highest audio quality. This is the wireless FM modulator I ended up purchasing.

Many wireless FM modulators out there cost between $20 and $50. Many of these modulators don’t really give any specific data on how well they perform. The reviews on major eCommerce sites like eBay and Amazon are usually split about 50/50 for all of these cheap modulators between people who hate the product and those that like the product. In the end I just didn’t think it was worth it to buy something that so many people were dissatisfied with.

Regardless of the product, I’m a firm believer that you get what you pay for. Spending a little extra dough on a high quality wireless FM modulator will most definitely give you the best audio quality possible. In addition since a wireless unit is portable, you will be able to enjoy it in multiple locations beyond the car. Wireless modulators are extremely easy and convenient to use, and can really take your music listening experience to the next level.
