FISH FRY – A NEW FLORIDA TRADITION HOSTED BY NONPROFT, HOSPICE AFTERCARE SERVICES - By: Marialuisa Planzo

DADE CITY, Fla. (July 9, 2007) – Hospice AfterCare Services is creating a new Florida tradition filled with all the summer-time delights: hot dogs, hamburgers, ice cold drinks and best yet – FISH! On Saturday, July 14 from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m., the statewide nonprofit organization is having a Picnic Under the Oaks Barbeque and Fish Fry to benefit the mission of Hospice AfterCare Services.

In partnership with another nonprofit, Morningstar Fishermen, Hospice AfterCare Services will raise funds to support its mission in providing dignity in life and death. The Barbeque and Fish Fry will host tours of the Morningstar Fishermen’s aquatic center, which is used to train world-hunger-fighting-missions around the globe about “aquaponics,” a term used in the process of harvesting a multifariously valuable fish – Tilapia – as well as vegetables. The relaxing picnic BBQ will be serving mainly fish, with some chicken and hot dogs and hamburgers for children. The cost is a tax-deductible donation of only $25 each; kids under 12 years old eat for free. The picnic will be located at 33336 Old Saint Joe Rd., Dade City.

All proceeds go to Hospice AfterCare Services, which provides Hospice patients as well as other families in need with financial resources for a dignified cremation or funeral service. With the committed objective to assist families in need throughout the entire nation, Hospice AfterCare Services has positioned itself throughout the state seeking support through events such as the Picnic Under the Oaks Barbeque and Fish Fry.

Hospice AfterCare Services’ goal is to insure that no Hospice client family has to face life after the death of their loved one knowing that there was no resources for a dignified funeral or cremation ceremony due to financial need. “Imagine the anguish a family experiences when their loved one dies without the means to provide even the most basic death care services,” said Tom James, president of Hospice AfterCare Services, “We are incredibly fortunate to host this event with the sponsorship of Morningstar Fishermen. It’s going to be an enjoyable, family-oriented, educational experience and all for an extraordinary cause.”
