Equestrian Supplies : Keeping Your Horses in Tiptop Shape - By: Allan Michael Taylor

Some people raise horses just for the solely for the pleasure. However, if you own a horse for business, be it breeding, ranch work or horse racing, you literally cannot afford to be anything less than in tiptop shape. Now, one major mistake that some horse owners make is thinking that food, air and water is enough. They are necessities - that's a fact. But they are not the entirety of the equestrian supplies that would keep horses in tiptop and in good spirits. Equine supplies include health supplies, fencing supplies, stable supplies, tack or horse equipment and riding apparel.

Horse Health Supplies

No one wants to see a horse in pain, but just in case it happens, there should be a first aid kit handy. A first aid kit includes bandages, antiseptics, liniments, thermometers and splits. Having one around would minimize the chances of infection and would allow you to get some aspects of the injury in order, before the vet arrives. Horse health supplies aren't limited to these though. It also includes food supplements for blood building, vitamins and minerals, dewormers, allergy and cough cures, pain relief, calming medications, horse treats and electrolytes.

Grooming Supplies

Aside from keeping your horses healthy, they need to be kept clean and nice-looking as well. Grooming supplies include cleaning agents, such as soap, as well as various grooming combs. Curry combs keep hair loose and gets rids of large pieces of whatever is stuck on the coat. Dandy brushes get rid of dirt. A body brush keeps the coat looking good. And you know what mane combs are for. Hoof picks and hoof brushes are for hoof health and maintenance. You may also need to polish the coat with a towel.

Fencing supplies

You need this whenever your horses are allowed some leisure 'walks'. You wouldn't want to leave them alone and have them bolt to heaven knows where. This includes supplies for fence maintenance like spare posts, solar panels for electric fences, barbed wire, and other tools.

Stable supplies

Equestrian supplies under this category include pest control supplies, hay bags, tack organizers, stall supplies, cleaning materials, feed pans, horse blankets and waterers. These are just about every thing that will keep your horses healthy and the environment fit for habitation.

Tack

Tack is the horseman's term for horse equipment. They include the equipment needed to ride and maneuver the horse, such as saddles, stirrups, bridles, headstalls and reins. The type of equipment dependson the style of riding as well as what the riding is for.

Riding Apparel

If you are going to ride a horse, you need the right apparel because these are specially built for horse riding comfort and safety. If you are planning to join a horse show, there's all the more reason for you to look the part. This includes hats, helmets, riding boots, breeches, spurs, riding coats, chaps and gloves and safety vests.

Equestrian supplies occupy a wide range in the market for animal supplies. Horses need a lot - there really is no better way of saying that. It's no surprise that there is this belief horses are for people who can spare money. However, for some who are in the business, horses are the money. That is why you need to make sure that your horses have everything they need.
