Entrepreneur doesn't let disability get in the way of courier firm - By: Tom Jui

A businessman has refused to let disability get in his way and has launched a courier service.

Andrew Laidler established G Wizz with his wife Ashley after going blind two-and-a-half years ago, the Journal reports.

He had been partially sighted for most of his life but after he suffered a detached retina in his good eye, he lost all vision.

However, this did not stop him in his bid to start a delivery service.

Mr Laidler and his wife had been selling musical instruments on ebay when they noticed a potential gap in the market.

They thought that many of the organisations that provided a courier service were not targeting their offerings at the needs of everyone.

Currently, their operation is delivering around 50 to 60 parcels a day, but the couple are seeking to increase this to 700 over the next two years.

When it is providing a delivery service of this size, it will take on more staff, they noted.

Mr Laidler remarked: "It was an extremely difficult time when I lost my sight completely. However, I wasn't going to let that get in the way of me making something of my life."

He added: "We have set realistic targets to break into the competitive market and are confident that our prices and service will get a lot of interest."

According to the businessman, his firm offers a regular service that is good value for money and is easy to understand, without hidden costs.

It provides assistance to a variety of people, ranging from those who want an item sending down the road to those who need a delivery to be made across the other side of the world.

Many individuals and companies rely on the services provided by couriers in order to manage their daily operations. In this way, such organisations play a huge role in the economy.
