Enlarging Your Assets Can Be Emotionally Up Lifting - By: Anna Stenning

The dictionary definition of Augmentation is: The act or process of augmenting, or making larger, by addition, expansion, or dilation; to increase, or the state of being augmented; enlargement.

This is precisely what happens with breast augmentation, breast augmentation is a surgical procedure in which enlargement of the breasts takes place, this happens by the addition of saline or silicone implants being inserted under the tissue of the breast but above the chest muscles in order to create an aesthetic change in size.

Breast augmentation is not simply just another cosmetic surgical procedure, yes it is true that there are a lot of women who choose to have their breasts enlarged, paying large sums of money in order to have the perfect body or Hollywood boobs, the kind that most film stars or A list celebrities have nowadays.

There are those even, who have become famous or even more so for having their breasts enlarged, names like Jordan, who's modeling career seems to have revolved around her boobs, or Lolo Ferrari, most commonly known for appearing on Euro Trash, Lolo is said to have had the biggest breasts in Europe measuring a staggering 52 inches. This was only achievable from many operations.

However there are those who undergo breast augmentation or enlargement purely to feel feminine, some women develop later than others through puberty, but for some poor women puberty comes and goes and barely leaves its mark leaving a hole of self consciousness or the feeling of not being womanly.

For others puberty can play nasty little tricks like allowing one breast to grow significantly larger than the other, having breasts which differ slightly in size is in fact quite normal, but for some the difference is just too much, making even simple cloth shopping a task.

Having the ability to be able to correct what some women perceive as being a deformity, or handicap in their own eyes, does not only work to correct what is seen externally but also the damage and effects that it has on a person both mentally and emotionally.

As with all operations there is always a need to ensure that the patient is ready for the procedure which is about to be undertaken, surgical procedures such as breast augmentation are no different, medical history needs to be taken into account so that factors which may impede the operation of healing process afterwards can be thoroughly investigated first.

There are 3 types of breast surgery in all, breast enlargement, breast reduction and breast reconstruction. Breast enlargement is probably the only procedure which is done mainly for cosmetic reasons; the other procedures are more commonly used to help medically in some way.

Breast reduction is an operation which is chosen to reduce the size of the breasts, this is often because of health problems caused by the breasts being too big and therefore causing back problems or problems with the shoulders and neck. The breasts, if they are too large can in fact pull a person forward, this in turn will ruin posture and create stress on the shoulders and neck when wearing a bra, by reducing the breasts these symptoms can be alleviated.

The last procedure, breast reconstruction is usually performed for women who have had their breast or breasts removed through illness, the main cause for this being breast cancer, removal of the effected breast tissue is sometimes the only way to irradiate the illness. Unfortunately this leaves both physical and mental scars, some of which can be helped by surgery.

Cosmetic surgery is available widely now, which allows more women to achieve the picture perfect body, however it is always good to remember that looking and feeling good doesn't necessarily depend on surgery.
