Japan may seem like an usual choice for a holiday destination, but it is very under rated as there is plenty to see and do, and is a completely different experience to many other cities. To get the most out of your visit, make sure that you stay at one of the five star Tokyo hotels. There are some Tokyo hotels that offer "capsules" which were mass produced for when Japan hosted the FIFA world cup in 2002. These are 1m in height, 1m in width and 2m in length and were created to cope with the huge amount of football fans visiting the city. These are actually surprisingly expensive to rent, and you can be left feeling isolated and missing out on the whole experience of visiting a country with a very different culture.

If you are planning to travel around Japan, then I recommend using Japan's bullet trains, also known as shinkansen. These trains travel at speeds of 300km/h so are an experience themselves. Make sure you're not late though, as the Japanese pride themselves on the trains running within seconds of their scheduled times. The bullet trains can take you to out of city destinations very quickly, so you can experience more of Japans beautiful country. The speed and reliability of the trains means that you can still return to your base in Tokyo at one of their five star Tokyo hotels.

Places I would recommend seeing in Tokyo include the Ryogoku Kokugikan Sumo arena, which is very entertaining. There is also the Tsukiji market which is a wholesale market that runs 24 hours a day. Although you cannot buy products there, you can visit and walk around the market and buy the freshest sashimi, sushi or tempura. These are made from scratch in front of you as you wait, and must be experienced.

Language can be an issue for some travellers visiting the city, but many Japanese people speak some English. If you visit one of the five star Tokyo hotels you can guarantee that the hotel staff will speak extremely good English, and can provide you with lots of insider information to help you on your sightseeing.
