Employment Agencies Choosing an Employment Agency or Headhunter - By: Haig Armen

For many individuals, it takes time to look for the ideal job or for a job that can give you what you need. Going through ads from day to day can be quite tedious and it can take much of your time which you could actually devote to other things of equal importance. It is because of this dilemma that many individuals opt to get the help from employment agencies or headhunters when looking for their ideal job, especially when the job they are looking for can be accessed only by the employment agency. However, not all employment agencies are to be trusted either. So what should you consider when trying to get headhunter who can do the job for you

No charges on your part
Getting an employment agency to look for a job shouldn’t cost you anything. The commissions paid to the employment agency are usually taken care of by the employer and not the prospective employee. However, if you are getting the services of more than one employment agency, then it would be better if you inform both of them that you are enlisted by both so there won’t be problems with the fees between the agency and the company that is about to hire you.

Thorough knowledge of the field you are engaged in
It is important that the staff of the employment agency you are using has knowledge regarding the field of your choice. They should be familiar with your line of work so they will know where to place you. They should be able to be familiar with technical terms used in your field and they should be able to be astute enough to know which parts of your employment history could serve as an advantage to you when they present it to your employer.

Knowledge of the prospective employer
Although the recruitment agency won’t be able to give you the name of the prospective employer initially, they should be able to give you some information regarding the background of the company who has employed them. Information such as job location, the company size as well as the type of company should be given to you so that you have a clear idea of what you are planning to get into just in case you do get accepted by the company and the job you are applying for.

When looking for an employment agency, always ask around for their track record as people can give you information regarding their experiences with that particular employment agency. Make sure that they care enough to answer your calls and they are willing to entertain your questions without making you feel that you are wasting their time. Also choose a headhunter or employment agency that has confidence in you and your capabilities. They should be able to sell you to the companies and convince these companies that you are the right hire.

Looking for a job can truly be taxing but with the right employment agency, this can actually turn out to be a good experience.
