Emma Jane Brown strikes back, with renewed force - By: fery

Emma Jane Brown strikes back again, after a gap of 14 years, with the Horses for Heroes at this year’s Ascot on Saturday 10th July 2010.

Emma Jane Brown, ace show jumper, had her beginnings at a very young age. She got trained with the late Caroline Bradley and then became top class international competitor under the tutorage of the Everest brand with Ted and Liz Edgar. She then went on to form a major sponsorship partnership with Bond International along with Tina Cassan. That was just the beginning. Things took a leap for Emma in her twentieth year when she won, in 1984, the Ladies National Championship of Great Britain. Three years later, in 1987, she won the coveted Foxhunter Championship. A couple of years later, in 1989, she made news by being the first female show jumper from Great Britain to compete on the American Fall Circuit. During her trip she had tremendous success winning the World Cup qualifier in and forming a vital part of the British Nations Cup teams in Washington, New York. 1990 saw Emma winning the world famous Queen Elizabeth II Cup while in 1995 and 1996 she earned admirers regaining the Ladies National Championship of Great Britain back to back. She was also selected by the International Committee to represent Great Britain in the Nations Cup team competitions 13 times and was the highest British ranked lady rider for many years and recognised as a great ambassador for her country. Anyhow disaster struck her career 14 years back in the form of a severe kind of allergy from horses. She started suffering from a condition with symptoms similar to chronic asthma if she as much as had a single horse hair on her clothing. The star show jumper who had aspirations to make it to the Olympics had to retire prematurely, but she did remain active,as a Colour Commentator on television for Sky Sports and Eurosport and is currently writing for a number of magazines in Warwickshire.

With the Horses for Heroes at this year’s Ascot, Emma Jane Brown made a big kind of comeback, much to the excitement of her admirers.
