Making math fun and exciting for young learners will help them cope with concepts easily by developing basic math and social skills. Children start to explore and absorb concepts during the second grade. Math games can make their learning process easily and effectively achieved. Second graders are most likely to be attentive to discussion activities if they can participate in the learning process. The contribution of math games to class drills is a great way to achieve the full participation and attention of kids. To motivate them to study more, here are some common fun math games that could make your child eager and focused to study math.

Dice Rolling

Dice games are a great way to enhance the addition and subtraction skills of second graders. They are able to think well and exercise their minds. Dice are the most economical game to buy. What you need to play? All you will need is a pencil, some paper, a few dice and their full cooperation. Students must be divided into pairs and so they can take turns rolling the dice. The teacher will start a timer for 5 minutes. When the timer start the kids will start rolling the dice. When they roll the dice, have them add or subtract the numbers that show up and call out the right answer. The first player who calls out the correct answer has the point. At the end of time, they need to tally up score. Who ever has the most points find out which player has the most number of points.

Bingo with a Twist

Have the students a piece of notebook or a paper and tell them to fold in half four times. The paper in result will have four squares across and four down. Ask them to put a number in each square from 1 to 20. Tell them to write the numbers not in order. Have a stack of addition and subtraction flashcards and show them the first card. The students must able to solve the problem and look for the correct answer on their Bingo paper. If they have the answer already, they should mark it out. If someone calls out the answer aloud, they are considered out. The winner will be the student which has four in a row marked out squares. Bingo games are so common that it has so many versions. But no matter what version it is, the important thing is that, it develops skills and abilities and at the same time, it also creates fun.

Math Race

The class will be divided into two or three teams. Let them fall their lines facing the chalkboard. When the game begins, have math facts flashcards. The first student must pay attention at the flashcards, go to the board, and solve the problem with a right answer. The first student to answer the problem correctly has the point for the team. You can also play the game even without flashcard by simply asking the students questions or problems and ask them to write them up. This game really requires a lot of energy and skill since it is a race. They will think it is a lot of fun and will beg to play it everyday.
