Eco-Friendly Trade Show Flooring Options - By: Chris Harmen

In recent years, green practices have become a prerequisite for many businesses, especially in competitive arenas. Trade show exhibit flooring is no exception to this rule. Many materials in use today are recyclable, which may cause visitors to wonder why your company avoids recycling its floor. Particularly if you are involved in an earth-friendly field or are particularly eco-conscious yourself, choosing recycled exhibit flooring is a very good option.

Carpet Trade Show Exhibit Flooring

Modern carpet is made from a synthetic fiber which companies can easily melt down and recycle. The old melted fibers are re-dyed and reconstituted into carpet, which can then be cut on demand. Most good trade show flooring companies will keep enough stock on hand that you should never have to wait very long for the shade of carpet you are looking for to be in stock.

The resulting recycled carpeting option is durable, attractive, and also good for the environment. This type of carpet may have a slightly smaller color variety than the non-recycled version, but at around 16 colors to choose from, this option is still a very good one. Typically, the variety of colors is sufficient, particularly since trade show exhibit flooring need not be overly complex. It is likely that designers will find an appealing shade to harmonize with the rest of their booth from this palette. In addition, the best and most ecologically conscious manufacturers will offer information to help clients recycle the carpet when they are done using it.

Recycled Rubber Trade Show Flooring

Rubber was one of the earliest recyclable materials, and it has continued to enjoy new uses ever since. In exhibitions, it has taken the place of the spongy, soft alternatives, which was previously made from a material that is not easy to recycle. Some companies will still offer softer options, but most are also providing the rubber alternative.

Rubber trade show flooring is made from truck or car tires, shredded and then reformed into large tiles that interlock like puzzle pieces. They are generally very similar in appearance to the more traditional rubber tiling, but they may also have flecks of dyed rubber in them to provide some contrast. Again, your company will have a color choice with this recycled material, and there should be enough variety to suit most design tastes. Like the carpet, this material can generally be recycled again, but must be taken to a special recycling center to ensure proper handling.

Benefits Of Eco-Friendly Options

Making choices that will benefit the environment and your company will add to your success while exhibiting. If your company has a particularly pro-environment product, then adding more green choices to your marketing will only be a benefit. In addition, many places are starting to offer green expos entirely dedicated to sustainable living. Instead of being forced to choose between environmentally unfriendly trade show flooring options, companies can now opt for one of several good options for trade show exhibit flooring. There are carpet options if that is the feel you seek, rubber options for the more industrial taste, and new developments expected soon. In the era of eco-friendly, recycled trade show exhibit flooring may be the wave of the future.
