Easy Ways To Ensure That You Have Time To Visit Other Trade Show Booths At Your Next Convention - By: Chris Harmen

When you attend an exhibition and bring a trade show booth of your own, your first priority is to promote your own company and products. You've paid to rent the space. You've invested in a stand or exhibit of some kind. You need to ensure that these investments pay off with some new leads, or at the very least some positive exposure. However, this motivation neglects one very important factor that enriches your convention experience: visiting other stands. A convention is about more than promoting your own company. If you're not mingling, you're not able to identify potential business connections, and you're not making valuable contacts that will help your company in the future. You need not choose between a successful presence for your business and successfully exploring the other exhibits; you just need to plan a bit beforehand so that you're able to slip away during the event itself.

The Easiest Way: Bring Additional Staff

Having more than one person manning your exhibit is the easiest way to give yourself time enough to make the rounds. Bring along just one additional employee for the convention, and you've got all the time you care to take. The only concern with this method is ensuring that your employee understands the intricacies of the business and knows how to present it well to visitors. Choosing an existing employee or business partner to fill this role makes it easy to assure competency.

While you are visiting other trade show booths, your back up staff should be responsible for running your stand completely. You should be able to arrange shifts, knowing in advance when you're both going to be present and when one of you will be off duty. You can take breaks for lunch, and you will certainly have the time to explore other displays.

Plan It Out In Advance

If you can't get extra staff to come with you, your best option is to plan out where you'd like to visit in advance and make a targeted list. While it is certainly better to do a leisurely exploration of the various offerings, seeing any of them is better than seeing none of them. If you're shuttering your own trade show booths to do it, you'll want to focus on being fast rather than on being thorough. Plan ahead as soon as you receive a completed roster. Create an exact path to take and determine a likely schedule for how long you'll visit each of the other trade show booths.

Get A Little Help From Your Family Or Friends

Some people are unable to bring an additional staff member because they're the owners of their own business and are trying to conserve funds. If that's your situation, you can try something innovative to get a little help: bring a close friend or a family member. They're usually happy to assist you with the process of growing your business, and they may even be knowledgeable about it if you've spoken of it frequently in the past. Either way, you know you can trust them to handle your trade show booths as well as possible because they want to do right by you. If you're unable to find another solution, having a friend or family member help out may be the best solution.
