Exercise, diet, drink eight glasses of water, we all know that we should do certain things for better health, but some of us are looking for short cuts. What is the MOST important first step in changing my health some people ask. Believe it or not, the simplest change to better health starts with hydration. Drinking eight glasses of water can help with many of the health problems people struggle with. Our bodies are primarily made up of water. Depending on our age, we are anywhere from 90 to 70 percent water.

Drinking water regularly will help regulate your bowel movements, help you sleep better and a host of other benefits. So if drinking water is the most important thing you can do to improve your health, the questions that next begs to be answered is does the type of water matter? Are all waters pretty much the same? The answer would be no, they are not the same. Tap water usually has a neutral pH but may contain contaminates and if it is city water will also contain things like chlorine and fluoride which, when researched are considered to cause certain types of cancer. Many bottled waters are just tap water that has been put through the reverse osmosis process to clean it. Reverse osmosis water is very clean but has also been stripped of all minerals and can leach minerals from your body. Recent tests of a popular bottled water showed it with a pH of 4 which meant that it was extremely acidic and unhealthy, yet that same bottled water claimed to be healthy and sells for about three dollars a bottle. Since your body must maintain a blood pH of 7.365, it has to work extremely hard when you consume acidic foods or liquids.

Alkaline ionized water is a type of water that was introduced in the United States about eight years ago, but has been used in Russian and Asian homes and hospitals for nearly four decades. Alkaline ionized water most imitates the high pH waters that are considered “healing waters” in places around the world like Lourdes. In nature, when water runs over rocks, it picks up a small electrical charge. When tap water is filtered and run though a water ionizer, it is electrolyzed, which makes the water molecules smaller and able to penetrate your cells better. The negative electrical charge also makes the water antioxidant so that it can pull toxins from the body. This is very hydrating water that can help balance your bodies pH. This water also makes more oxygen available to the brain and your bodies cells. People who consume alkaline water often report being able to “think” better, sleep better and have more energy.

Doctor William Kelly of the College of Metabolic Medicine and author of the Cancer Cure says, “Alkaline water, produced by a water ionizer has become the most important advancement in health care since Sir Alexander Fleming’s discovery of penicillin.” Pictures of blood that was produced before drinking alkaline water and pictures of the same person’s blood taken after drinking alkaline water for 120 days shows a marked difference in shape and over all health of the blood cells.

Even Bible says that, the “life of the body is in the blood,” Leviticus chapter 17 verse 11, so we conclude that while eating well and exercising are very important, what you choose to drink will affect your very life’s blood.
