Climatic change is being hotly discussed all around the world. There is an evident surge in the average heat range of the earth, and the effects of this are beginning to be felt in many unexpected ways.

The modifications in the weather conditions are volatile and surprising. Several areas of earth are going through drought. However reports of extreme storms and floods are seemingly more prevalent. And though these problems appear to be a result of global warming, parts of the planet are suffering from dramatically reduced temperatures.

It is believed by many that the increase in the average temperature of our planet is largely brought on by mankind's activity, and in particular the introduction of carbon, or more specifically CO2, into the air through the use of non-renewable fuels.

Coal and oil reserves are the consequence of countless years of natural geological processes. Virtually all life we know of is carbon based, meaning that the element carbon accounts for a significant part of the cellular structure of all living things.

Over millions of years, deceased plants and animals have been drawn back into planet earth itself, and transformed into a number of substances. Including solids like coal, fluids such as crude oil, plus natural gases. And in more modern times the human race has discovered how to effortlessly acquire these materials, and control the energy kept inside.

And now all of the carbon which has for so very long been confined miles underneath our planet's surface is being discharged back into the environment, forming carbon dioxide and bringing about what is called global warming.

There are a couple of significant reasons this reliance on fossil fuels cannot carry on. First of all, there is only a finite supply. Only so many animals and plants have died, and even fewer have formed coal, gas or oil stores. The earth is running out of fuel reserves. It's been the reality for as long as we've been using them.

The 2nd reason is obviously the consequence it is having on our planet - the changeable climate, melting glaciers producing increasing sea levels, exceptionally dry seasons and floods.

So precisely what can we do to fix it? Obviously, there is not a lot an individual can achieve on the worldwide scale. Yet if a huge number of folks start minimizing their use of standard fuels, the total impact of a great number of people making change will start to add up.

Possibly the most significant area which we can make change is in the utilization of electricity. Much of our electrical power comes from burning coal. If we could lower our electrical power utilization we will be having a direct impact on the quantity of co2 being introduced into the environment. So pull the plug on some lights or purchase power efficient devices.

Maybe seek alternative energy, such as that created through solar or wind power. And, it's possible these days to make your very own electrical energy.

The main thing to remember is the fact that each and every tiny bit helps!
