EVS Core Temperature Regulatore (CTR) Cooling Vest - By: Toby Williams

The new Core Temperature Regulator (CTR) Cooling Vest from EVS helps to prevent dehydration and reduces heat exhaustion, as a result it maintains your energy, focus, and performance on a hot day out on the track.
The CTR Cooling Vest is constructed of thin layers of super-absorbent polymer. This material, once saturated with water (unlike cotton or polyester) retains and slowly disperses the water over a longer period of time to keep you cool. The polymer panels are placed in strategic sections, along the shoulders, upper back, and down each side. These spots are proven to be major areas where heat buildup occurs, so these moisture panels keep your core temperature down longer. There are also thin breathable mesh panels on the chest and mid-lower back areas. Staying cool is as important as wearing protective gear. Dehydration and heat exhaustion cause loss of focus, strength, energy, and breath, all of which you need to be able to drive a 220 pound bike surrounded by other riders on bumpy ground to finish a race.
The EVS CTR Cooling Vest fits like a compression shirt without limiting any movements. Using the same sizing as you would a T-shirt, this vest comes in X-Small to 2X-Large. The CTR is simply used for cooling, it is lightweight and doesn't come with padding.
For use, the Core Temperature Regulator Cooling Vest should first be submerged in room temperature to ice-cold water. Water temperature depends on the person, but be aware that ice-cold water will put your body in shock when you first put the vest on. It should be submerged until the polymer panels are saturated. Then take it out and drain some of the excess water off or if it's a really hot day and you don't mind your other gear getting a little wet, put it on as is under your gear. The cooling effect lasts around 15-20 minutes depending on the climate. Often cooling vests have a negative effect once the moisture is gone. The CTR Cooling Vest never works against you, once the moisture is gone this thin, lightweight vest almost feels like it's not even there.
