EBay Road Bikes Give You One Of The largest Selections Available - By: Dave McIntosh

A friend of mine just got a new road bike and so I thought I should have one two, you know how it goes. Unfortunately unlike my friend I didn’t have the money to buy one like I wanted. Now eBay road bikes aren’t that expensive but could I find what I wanted. Then I started thinking maybe it would be cheaper if I could buy the parts online separately and put a bike together myself.

I like to browse eBay and see what they have anyway and keep myself abreast of the prices bikes are going for. So I started keeping an eye on things especially the bike frames. I was specifically looking for a carbon fiber frames because I was looking to reduce the weight of my bike and increase the comfort of my ride.

I hadn’t be cycling all that long but I was finding myself increasingly seeking to go faster and further. I had ridden a couple of centuries and was looking to do more at the same time do better at it. The other complicating factor is I am not young and my age is making it increasingly hard to improve. Any way those were the reasons for my goal of a new bike.

In looking at the parts I became frustrated by a few things. One was the price. By the time I bought all the parts separately even by buying a generic frame I was going to be spending more than buying a complete bike. Not only that but the weight of a generic frame, didn’t seem to be as light weight as I desired it to be.

That caused me to more and more keep an eye on complete used name brand bikes. But that too seemed futile as the prices carbon framed bikes were going for was far more than I was able or willing to pay.

There were other issues I was concerned about like getting the size right and a component set that was good quality as well as a frame that was quality. The other thing was what kind of shape was the bike in? Most of them have pictures of the bike but pictures don’t always tell the whole story and/or can be made to not tell the whole story. There are always those out there that have no conscience about trying to pull the wool over people’s eyes. It is hard to trust people these days even when you know them let alone complete strangers.

One thing I wasn’t concerned about was eBay itself and the process of buying something on their auction site. I have bought a number of things on it and never had a problem.

As it all turned out I ended up seeing a bike the size I needed and it was a top name brand with most of what I was looking for. I would have liked one level up better component set but what it had was very good never the less. The other thing was the bids on it were few and at a price I was willing to pay. I ended up getting it and I have been extremely satisfied with what I was able to get.

The thing with eBay road bikes is there is a big selection in all different price ranges so you are bound to find one that is right for you.
