Drunkorexia is a term widely recognized in medical field. However, drunkorexia is etymologically not accepted, but still it has its fame in medical records. Drunkorexia is a combination of eating disorder and alcoholism or binge drinking. Both these disorders are quite severe. Eating disorder makes you more predisposed to the severe penalties and alcoholism makes you more vulnerable to eating disorder.

Types of Drunkorexia

- Compensating for the Calories of Alcohol - Alcohol usually contains high in calories and the people suffering from eating disorder are well aware of this fact. Bulimic people are enticed to dump alcoholic calories.

- Using Alcohol to Replace Food - Anorexic and bulimic people are aware of the fact that alcohol is highly caloric. So, they drink alcohol to reimburse for eating less. Drinking alcohol helps to kill the hunger pangs for them.

- Binging the Morning After - Usually a morning after a heavy drinking session come with the effects of hangover. This is a real fight for people with binge eating disorders. They sometimes feel guilty and eventually they take it away.

- Double Binging - Food binges and alcohol binges are entwined. A dejected and emotionally down person usually find himself free from all troubles while drunk. Double binging is common in drunkorexic people.

Campus Colleges

Campus Colleges are full of examples of drunkorexic people. Though, drinking is the common habit or normal experience in the college life, but some people really don’t care to limit themselves to the alcohol consumption. Those who drink alcohol once a week remain normal for rest of the time, but for those who are addict to alcohol, it is hard for them to control themselves.

College is a place where people come to know about themselves and their potentials. But it is also true that those young minds try to follow their ideals. They want to look as beautiful like them. Instead they end up just putting themselves in destructive behavior following others like binge drinking or binge east disorder.

Treatment

While treating a drunkorexic person, it is necessary to treat both the disorders at the same time. Curing one and leaving the other will not serve the purpose instead it may resurface at some later time. Both the disorders are so closely entwined and needs the remedy at same time. This is not all in the hands of physician. Family support is also required to fight against these disorders. Give proper care and attention to the drunkorexic person to get rid of this illness.
