Water has a lasting effect on our health therefore its quality should be taken care of.
We are 70% water, our brain is 85% water, our blood is 90% water and our liver is a staggering 96% water. This tells us how important is good quality water for a healthy body.

The number of chemicals that we are exposed to is increasing day by day and our water is also being affected by it. So far more than 2,100 cancer-causing chemicals have been detected in U.S. water supplies (EPA records). A large number of poisonous chemicals are currently in use un the U.S and the number keeps increasing day by day, over a thousand new chemicals are being developed every year, most of them whose long-term risks of exposure, or the effects of combined exposure we do not know .We consume a number of traces of different synthetic chemicals together in the same glass of water. We are learning these new things which are really unfortunate.

Facts to be seen:
Due to the increase in SOCs a large number of cancer diseases are being reported. More than 1500% cases of cancer are expected now compared to the 1940s where 1 in 50 would expect to have cancer. This because 70 years earlier we did not have these chemicals in our water. All over the globe the highest rates of gradually worsening diseases are found where there are huge amounts of synthetic chemicals in water.
If we take the example of San Francisco and New Orleans where there are the highest levels of THMs and VOCs respectively, we will agree with the above mentioned statement because they have too the highest levels of colon and bladder cancers
We can also take New York City as an example; it has some of the highest levels of lead and the highest number of related problems, such as learning disabilities in children and high blood pressure in men.

What should be done?
We should increase the quantity of water that we drink and use imaginative ways to train ourselves such as using a bigger glass to drink water and drinking more glasses per day. Ten 12 ounce glasses a day would do the trick. In old times we were told to drink eight 8 ounces glasses a day but this is the era of modernization and so we have a greater level of exposure to chemicals. The 70 years old rule of eight 8 ounce glasses a day should not now be followed as today we have more severe conditions. If we stick to the old rule,our body will just use the total 64 ounces for the basics such as temperature control, skin hydration, digestion, energy production. We should drink more water so that our body is able to remain pure of the toxins as they will get flushed out. The more water we take in, the more pure our bodies will be.

We should also take care of the water’s quality that we consume. Alkaline ionized water is the best quality water available. So drink high quality water in huge amounts!
