Dracula DVD - By: Steeve John

The Dracula DVD is packed with drama, romance and horror

The Dracula DVD is exceptionally visually entertaining as it was years ago. Dracula was originally released way back in the early 1900’s. The recent version has a really good look and feel to it and the costumes and sets are rich and incredible.

The set of Dracula DVD’s were released in October 2007. The visual effects are real to life and included on the Dracula DVD is the way they obtained these visual effects. These special effects were captured on camera and not on computer. Gary Oldman plays the part of Dracula and each frame taken reveals depth and clearly reveals emotions such as love.

With the help of Coppola Bram Stokes Dracula is portrayed rather with love than spine chilling horror. It was believed that when Dracula was believed to have been dead his one true love committed suicide and the story tells of how Dracula returns to England from Transylvania in search of the incarnation of his true love.

Years later his true love does return and is re-incarnated as Mina Murray who at the time is engaged to Harker. Dracula recognizes Mina immediately and in turn imprisons Harker in his castle. But alas Dracula drained one of Mina’s friends and Van Helsing made it his life’s mission to kill Count Dracula as well as any other vampire he could find.

You almost get the feel that Dracula is the good guy and Van Helsing is the bad guy and this little twist really has worked well for the Dracula DVD series and gave a different perspective on all the usual betrayals of Dracula as he has always been seen as a heartless and cold sort of character.

The whole cast also added depth to the DVD and I rest my case as Oldman really played Dracula with absolute grace and composure right down to his every word, thought and action and as if he really knew the Count personally.

Coppola’s filmmaking and her love for the legend of Dracula was very apparent and I must say this film looks really good and better than any version I have ever seen as this series really puts a whole new light on Count Dracula. Dracula was notorious for impaling people but like everything in life one always has a good side to them not excluding Dracula.
