Don't You Judge Me! Actually.....Go ahead! - By: Tom Willard

Many have heard and understand that your opinion is all that matters about YOU - not anyone else's. I heard someone say that asking for someone else's opinion about you or something you did is EGO driven and immature - it's looking for acceptance outside of you.

Maturity is realizing that any other person's opinion and has no bearing on you. Like a child running to his mom to show her the picture he made and hoping that it gets hunging up on the refrigerator, we are conditioned from an early age to seek the acceptance of others.

To be clear, I'm not saying we should not give great feedback and praise where praise is due - but we must also remember that asking the child what the child thinks about themself. This way they are also realizing that the most important thing is they must approve of themselves!

I chuckle to myself when I hear people say…"don't judge me"…or "how dare you judge me?" Typically it's said with much condemnation and upset. I've even heard some of the big self-help gurus talk about not judging people, etc. I have found that many people in this world believe that you should not judge people nor be judged.

The fact is, it happens all the time. It's funny how someone who voices their judgement is a 'judger' and a horse's you-know-what, whereas the person who does it in his mind (and possibly quite scathingly - in fact, in either case the judging that is NOT voiced and in the mind only is probably very, very harsh) and doesn't voice it is not labeled..or judged...or considered a horse's you-know-what. In fact, they may be praised for NOT JUDGING....when they were doing it in their heads all along!!!!!

Make no mistake, you are being judged all the time by your actions, clothes, decisions, lack of decision, everything - and being judged by most people you come across.

WHY SHOULD YOU CARE? Get over it! If truly your opinion is all that counts, then why would the mature, self-aware and spiritual being care if someone judges them? Can you control it? No. Control what you can control. Your opinion of yourself is ALL THAT MATTERS and don't waste energy telling people not to judge you - because you are only addressing a very small fraction of them!

So...how does this tie to trading? Well, it's part of the WINNING PSYCHOLOGY. It gets back to controlling your mind. Your opinion of yourself is ALL THAT MATTERS. So what is your opinion of yourself? Do you believe what others say about you? Have a positive notion that, although you may make mistakes they are part of your learning process and your opinion is that you are a winner and a trading master and each and every experience is exactly what you need.

Do not worry about what your neighbor, friends, enemies, and everyone else is doing nor what they may or may not be thinking or saying about you. Keep your head down and CONTROL what YOU can CONTROL.
