Does Hair Replacement Surgery Work? - By: MIKE SELVON

Having a full head of thick healthy hair is a wonderful thing and most people consider the one on their heads to be permanently affixed. The truth of the matter is that it is constantly falling out and replenishing. That is not a really big deal for many people.

But there are some who have to worry about baldness and receding hairlines. It is not just men either. Women can be prone to pattern baldness and thinning of it just the same as men. There are a couple of solutions to look into if you are worried about the condition of your hair. One of these is hair replacement.

Hair replacement surgery should be considered a last alternative option. It is a major surgical procedure and it does come with complications and risks. There are also requirements that have to be met. One of these requirements is that you must have healthy growth that is dense along the sides or back of the head.

The permanent hair follicles in these areas are removed with the skin and then stretched over the balding spots. A lesser treatment is to use punch grafts. In this procedure, certain follicles are removed and punched into the areas where there is little growth.

Hair removal in some areas is essential to replace the areas where its growth has stopped. If you have those that is thin all over your scalp, then you may not be a candidate for either procedure.

You should also know that there is a chance that the grafts will not take. Your body could reject the new hair grafts and you would be back where you started. It is also a surgery which carries certain risks. Your best bet is to get all of the education you can.

One solution, especially if you are a man, may be to consider a complete process of hair removal. Going bald is very chic right now. Why try to cover it up when you can just get rid of it completely? For women this is not such a great option.

Society is not at the point where bald women are widely accepted. You could try topical products to help it appear fuller or you could elect for hair extensions. Both of these solutions are less costly than surgery and there are few risks associated with them.

As you have probably already figured out, permanent hair is not quite so permanent. Everyone loses some of it. But if you are someone who has lost large quantities or have bald spots, then you may have to resort to trying hair replacement surgery. Will it work? That is difficult to say. It all depends on your particular circumstances. If it does work, then you have the opportunity to overcome your hair deficiencies and gain back your youthful confidence.
