Do You Know How do Polarized Sunglasses Work - By: RandaFritch

People always think that sunglasses are the most effective device for vision protection and eye protection. However, some sunglasses in the market are not as effective as people can ever imagine, especially in some particular situations. These sunglasses are useless in vision protection. Take glares for example. Glare can really do great damage on wearersĄŻ eyes, though some ordinary sunglasses are used. It is because that glares are results of light reflections on mirror-alike objects and the light become polarized after being reflected. So under that condition, the emergence of polarized sunglasses has really helped many people in dealing with these thorny problems.

The difference between normal sunglasses and polarized sunglasses is that in normal sunglass, the intensity of all light spectrums is reduced equally. In terms of polarized sunglasses, selective glares that cause annoying effect to the eyes are eliminated. In polarized sunglasses, a special filter is used to help eliminate the reflected light of high intensity glare. In other terms, this polarized filter allows only a portion of light with certain wavelengths pass. In other words, these lights are not aligned with particles of the filter.

Speaking about the composition of polarized filters, they are made up of chemical compound coated on a transparent glass or plastic lens. The chemical film consist tiny molecules that align in a parallel fashion with respect to one another. If the chemical film is coated uniformly on the lens, the molecules absorb the entry of all light intensities that matches their alignment. Since glares are mostly caused by the horizontally oriented light waves, polarized sunglasses are designed in such a way that they allow only vertical polarized light pass. With such polarized sunglasses, the texture and shape of objects become clearer, irrespective of the glare. Moreover, polarized lens reduces the glare effect. However, one of the drawbacks of polarized sunglasses is that liquid crystal displays may not be visible while viewing at specific angles.

What is more, polarized sunglasses are widely used among wearers who often expose their eyes to glares and other harmful rays such as fishermen, driver and so forth.
