There are some simple and basic ways to get started and you'll be able to determine early on if this is for you.

- Can you concentrate on one niche and become an expert at it? Determine the best method for you to get started and stick with it until you have mastered it (or determined that it's just not for you). With so many options on the internet today it's easy to become scattered when trying to do too many of them.

For example you may think that you want to become an article writer. You may also decide that you want to promote your own ideas, products or services. But if you start out trying to do both you'll have a much more difficult time mastering them than if you were to just concentrate on one of them.

- Can you take instruction or direction from others? Find a mentor or some training programs that can assist you through the process.

This is the key to progressing quickly. There is no reason for you to make the same mistakes as others. This will just slow down your income making timeline and potential.

- Are you creative? By putting your own unique spin on what you're doing will only enhance your product or service and make you more appealing to those wanting it.

If you're an article writer take the time to research for a new and fresh idea or angle. Your readers will notice and appreciate it.

- Can you determine your goals and put together a plan to support them? It's one thing to say "I want to work at home and get rich" and it's another thing to actually create a plan to do it.

- And finally, can you manage your time and be disciplined enough to achieve your goals? Some people need a boss to keep them working.

It's too easy to get sidetracked when you are working at home. If you want to be successful at it you'll need to be able to treat this like a job.
