Dissertation - By: Jorge Adkins

But don't think these as wasted time, and also wasted writing. Much of it you'll be able to recycle and reuse inside your final write up together with what you can't offers you valuable writing experience.

The parts of the writing which you can do, if you want to, and I would recommend making time for you to do them, are first drafts in the introduction, aims and objectives, materials and methods and the final literature review.

The reading review that you'll normally do when you initially start is to assist you understand the topic you'll be taking care of, the final literature review will be a summary of all the previous work related to your neighborhood of study. This is always to help the people reading your thesis to understand the background related to your research topic. Much could be the same but there'll also be differences so you can't completely recycle the first one. Also you'll need to add the rest of the work that has ended up published while you've been focusing on your topic.

Continuous smooth process

Your research work should be done in one smooth continuous process. Many students do experimental work and then stop and write, mainly when plants produce a progression report right at the end of each year.

This isn't the easiest method to integrate your experimental job and writing. It usually takes you several weeks to publish your progression report. In that time it's possible that some of your experiments or reagents will have gone missing in the lab. You'll also end up breaking your routine, and a good working routine is incredibly useful when trying to conduct a multitude of connected experiments.

Plan your time so that you start to write your progression reports in plenty of time; so that you may well produce them by just working some hours each day on writing, while continuing with your experimental work.

The same is true when you're inside your final year. Start to prepare your final thesis while still doing all your experimental work. Follow a good academic writing process and do both parts as well. This way you'll be able to focus on both of them rather than working in the stop start fashion, switching from one to the other; which will mean you can waste time, remembering where you'd reached and what needed doing next after you stopped.

Conclusion

If you're capable to plan your time to help you prepare parts of ones thesis while still working on your experiments you won't enjoy the daunting prospect of having to finish your experiments and start to write your whole thesis in one long session. It's very important to choose this theme carefully. It should be in your specific course of study and really should be in depth enough to undertake some serious research, although not so specific that it restricts you. Your thesis paper must be something that you understand to help you write a concrete together with well supported paper about them matter. Your thesis will need to be informative and interesting to your evaluating committee. If you choose properly from the beginning you will be able to write a better paper naturally. As you choose your topic, think about ones paper.
