When it comes to buying gifts for close friends and family, many of us struggle to come up with something meaningful, particularly for those special milestone occasions such as big birthdays or wedding anniversaries. It's often the case that those closest to us don't necessarily want us to spend a lot of money. The material value is not important. In these cases, the focus shifts to coming up with that perfect gift that will have a great deal of meaning to the recipient as well as being something they will cherish.
This is where digital scrapbooks come in. Scrapbooks and photo albums have long since had a place as gifts. Storing memories, snippets and things that are special to your friends, family and loved ones in such a way that they can cherish is a beautiful idea. But as our photographs become ever more digital and far less printed, scrapbooking is heading in the same direction. Digital scrapbooking is a great creative outlet and produces some stunning results. Here are some tips for creating the perfect digital scrapbook gift:-
High Quality Images:
The higher the quality of the image, the better is the scrapbook. Poor quality images simply won't cut it, particularly if you go to get your digital scrapbook printed out.
Choose a Theme that Means Something:
Many digital scrapbooking software packages will let you choose a theme from a library, and of course you have the choice to customise it too. So, let's say for example that you have a family member who is a massive racing car fanatic, you could find a theme that fits in and then customise it with other elements that also say something about the recipient's character or the things they enjoy. This way the digital scrapbook doesn't only contain things that mean something to him or her, but also speaks volumes about their personality and makes for a very well thought out gift.
Don't Limit it to just Photographs:
You don't have to limit a scrapbook just to photographs; that applies to digital scrapbooks too. Has your friend or loved one been in the news recently? Is there an achievement they've accomplished? Are they a member of a certain club? Find newspaper snippets about them or about something they love and include these too. Most newspapers now record all the news on their websites too; so you can screenshot the story and include it.

Get Creative:
Why not make your own newspaper snippets? Photography editing software such as Photoshop enables you to be really creative with pictures and words and there are a whole host of online generators. You could even write up your own fictitious news story to add a little humour to the gift. You can make it look like an authentic newspaper cutting and include that.

Keep It Personal
The best gifts, digital scrapbooks included, are the ones that have clearly been thought out. Include only things that you know will invoke pleasant memories in the recipient.
