Differentiating Occupy Wall Street vs Tea Party Protest - By: Jenna Jones

Most countries now suffer from different kinds of protests. This is because of the fact that individuals and groups have their separate ideals or beliefs. The idea behind protest actions is to awaken most people on the current situations affecting their lives. However, not all people are in favour of protest action but people still continue to do so because they are fighting for their beliefs and ideals with the hope that their political leaders would listen. Examples of well-known protests are Occupy Wall Street and Tea Party. The cause they are fighting for has a similar idea since they want the “political power” to be in the best hands. These actions manage other issues concerning the government, taxes, civil and political rights including the present state of the economy. However, the Occupy Wall Street vs Tea Party has become quite a problem itself. What is your stand on this? If you will take time to analyze, there is generally a big difference on the issues. The Occupy Wall Street is perceived by both the local and international critics as having a more substantial and noteworthy cause for the protest action. On the other hand, Tea Party movements focus on their misinformed and become “angry for the wrong reason.”

If you'll consider the Tea party movement, you can't help but notice the issues on Tea Party Racism. There just seemed to be some truth to this. The fact is, the Tea Party protestors are usually made up of Republicans. Republicans are mostly perceived to be racists. Based on history, Republicans are known for their controversial stand against allowing the African American/Black American the right to vote. So during their protests they include Obama and the fact that he isn’t “naturally” born American. It has been out in the open that their criticism extends to the administration of Obama where they have no sufficient basis for protest action. Tea Party group is mainly composed of older and wealthy individuals who happen to be Republicans.

Occupy Wall Street propaganda mainly talks of sensible things. The issues are justified because it concerns the economy and employment. The focus of the problems is on the most confounding problems of the country and not specifically on any political leader. The most glaring problems with the movement is how the corporate people have gained most of the benefits instead of the greater majority. To simplify the problem, it deals on the “rich becoming richer and the poor becoming poorer” because of the taxation system where the ordinary worker pays additional taxes. Another issue that angered the group is the fact wherein wages are continuously small but the taxes still high.

Even when the ideals of both movements-Occupy Wall Street and Tea Party-have their difference, it can't be denied that it awakens many people. Nonetheless, America awoke to the problems that affect the masses such as political and socio-economic issues.
