Formerly known as COATES OF INDIA LIMITED, DIC India was formally born on April 02, 1947 since it's inception Dic India limited had one goal and one goal only, i.e. to be a household name. And Dic India has been successful in delivering the aforesaid. Dic India started as a small blending unit in Kolkata (India) to a branch office of a London base British Printing Ink manufacturing company. DIC India is one of the largest companies in the Indian printing, publishing and packaging industry segment, serving top-of-the-line newspapers, magazines, packaging and printing establishments in the country. DIC India is a part of DIC Corporation of Japan, the World's largest manufacturer in printing Inks and allied materials. DIC Japan has a 71.75% share holding in DIC India Limited through DIC Asia Pacific Pte Ltd, Singapore. The value of Dic India can be measured in its customer satisfaction, credibility towards their business. With the vast past glory and responsibility on their shoulders Dic India revolutionized the Printing Ink industry in India. Not only new avenues for business opened up whilst their growth and developing years in India, but also they provided lot of employment opportunities that help in the economic development of the country. Expanding its business time and over and spreading its presence all over India, the then Coates of India became a public limited company under the Indian Companies Act. While still on their expansion plan Dic India kept adding feathers to its cap by setting up a R&D department that was granted recognition by Department of Science & Technology, Government of India.
In 1977 Dic India made its first public issue of equity share worth Rs. 3.2 million. The public issue was oversubscribed six times. Eventually they set up a sales office in various parts of the country. The company has continuously surpassed its own milestones year after year and today has become the supplier-of-choice of national and international printers and conversion agents through continuous enhancement of quality and offering best services and products. Lately DIC India sold its entire stake in Coates Coating India Private Limited to Valspar, a North American manufacturer of paints and coatings, and is operating under the name Dic India limited since 2004.
