A Dialer is basically a device or program that sets up a connection of a computer to the internet via phone line. Back in the day, it was a device used for modifying and identifying a phone number when connected in series with the phone and its line.

At that time, dialers allowed the user to freely choose the service provider according to himself. Dialers even allowed the user to subscribe to a different service provider for international calls while another for local communication.

Now a days the dialers are a necessary part of the cyber space for it is a must to use a dialer for internet connection. Dialers now come in form of software released by different service providers. It connects the device like computer to the service provider which provides the connectivity to the internet.

Dialers being a source of connection and high ease of access are very prone to fraud and indeed are. When a fraud dialer makes a connection to the internet via ISDN network it creates some files or simply breaches the security to allow the software to perform illegal operations.

The illegal operations performed by the dialers are characterized by unwanted pop ups every time a website is accessed, not a clue or hint for the charges for a connection and sometimes it even refuses to uninstall. These are the methods to charge extra for a small task and hence commit fraud. Some fraud dialers even download malicious contents from the internet to breach into the personal information of the user like a credit card number.

To avoid this type of fraud one can always visit a trusted website and download only from a reliable source. Also the spam mails should not be opened. And the premium numbers should also be avoided. Today the market offers such anti-malware software to detect and delete any illegal or dangerous content for the purpose being safety.
