The best type of swing for your individual circumstances is the one that you can repeat time after time, a natural golf swing one that your body aids instead of resisting.

We all have different bodies, different physique and varying physical capacity so it makes sense that what technique works for one person will not be a natural golf swing for another.

Therefore, trying to copy your favorite professional or club golfer may not be the route to success that you think it is. You need help with the initial set up of your swing and only a person who can watch you play will be able to guide you in the right direction.

If you take a look at a collection of golfers at the range or the first tee you will find a real variation in their swing styles. How can you possibly decide which one would be suitable for you?

Most people turn to their club professional for help in this matter in the form of a series of golf lessons. These are great for getting down the so called swing fundamentals into your game. However, lessons are just the beginning of the story and a natural golf swing does not make itself, you must practice the techniques the pro taught you and aim to do this three or four times a week if you can.

The problem with not having someone watching you whilst you practice is that you cannot really tell how well you are lining up or hitting through the ball until you have gained considerable experience in the game. Although I know several low handicappers who do nothing but practice and play which suits them fine but the faster route will always be to have lessons, at least at first.

The end result that you are looking for is a natural golf swing where you strike the ball consistently and crisply with a smooth follow through and consistent line through the ball.

Swinging the club to strike the ball the same way every time you play will reduce your scores on a regular basis and soon have your handicap tumbling.
