What's Desktop Virtualization?

To put it simply, desktop virtualization is a form of virtualization management where a virtual desktop is stored on a central remote server rather than a remote client locally. This allows for the ability of users to gain access to their 'desktops' on a number of capable devices including their personal computers, laptop notebook computers, and even smartphones like an iPhone or Droid.

What are the Benefits?

Desktop virtualization is a growing trend with those who have already experienced server virtualization for their business. It is a great time and money saver when it comes to operating good business.

Imagine if you were to be in this scenario...

Let's say you own a company and it has been operating using a software that is very expensive. You come across a much cheaper software with more features and want to switch immediately.

One way to accomplish this is to uninstall the old software and then install the new software which would involve hours of IT work along with associated cost. The IT employees would have to update every machine one by one. You don't have to waste all that time and money.

Desktop virtualization allows for a much cheaper and quicker fix. The IT department can simply run a script on the main server and, consequently, all of the computers will be updated simultaneously.
