Denver is one of the most developed city-counties in the United States. It is the second most populous city in Colorado, next to Phoenix. The consolidated city-county is popularly called the ‘Mile-High City’, because the area is elevated approximately one mile above sea level. It is a highly-urbanized city with parks, recreation areas, commercial establishments, and historic monuments. That’s why many residents and visitors really enjoy taking a tour around the city.

Denver is home to over 200 parks, with the largest being the 314-acre City Park. The local government of Denver categorizes parks based on the American law on lands. These are categorized based on historic significance, landscape, and function. Parks with historic significance are international historic sites, battlefields, cemeteries, and heritage sites. These parks also include historic trails and memorial parks. Historic trails are lengthy footpaths with a notable past. There are three historic trails that go cross Colorado. On the other hand, the city has two celebrated historic sites.

The government preserves historic parks, sites, and trails. They play a significant role in the remembrance of the city and the country’s history. Educational institutions and organizations often hold tours for kids and students in these historic landmarks. These tours help educate the young about their national heritage.

Moreover, there are beautiful landscapes in Denver. There are forests, grasslands, wilderness areas, and national conservation areas. National conservation areas are protected areas in the city. Activities in conservation areas of Denver Colorado parks are highly regulated by the government. They are not sold to real estate companies; likewise, mining and other commercial activities are strictly prohibited. They have similarities with national wildlife refugees, albeit the latter is a breeding ground for America’s endangered species.

National recreation areas are public open spaces. They are an ideal venue for outdoor recreation. There are two national recreation areas in the city, located near the commercial and urban centers. Nowadays, Denver Colorado parks utilize water-based recreation activities. In the winter, establishments allow skiing on the city’s ice-capped mountains. Lakeside areas, seashores, and rivers are developed for water-based recreation activities for both local and foreign tourists.

Drive around the city and you will be awed by the sights of Denver Colorado parks. The government continues to develop commercial parks and preserve historic sites. Truly, Denver is the place to be.
