Only you are wearing body armor and worrying about the IED's and the like. Now add in vehicles with poor and/or worn out suspensions. Some workers have a daily "commute" from secure military installations to distant work sites. Many DBA workers suffer serious back injuries due to bouncing around the back of vehicles.

IED's

An improvised explosive device (IED), is a roadside bomb. It is a "homemade" bomb constructed and deployed in ways other than in conventional military operations. IED explosions leave craters in their wake. They rip apart vehicles and injure, maim and kill the DBA workers within them. IED's are deadly. By some estimates, IED's have been responsible for over 50% of the DBA deaths in Iraq.
